While most of the other festivals worldwide have either postponed or scrapped their events for the year 2020, we at RTF decided to move our own event forward by two months, to help people around the world cope with the burden of covid-19 lock-down.
This is because as an innovative and technology-driven festival which has constantly upheld the mantra of remote accessibility, we believe that the very essence of our vision should take centre stage at a time such as this.
To this effect, we reached out to filmmakers interested in showcasing their works in our newly designed "ONLINE FILM FESTIVAL”, after which 100 shortlisted films from 26 countries were announced as part of the showcase in our "RTF - Remote Access edition themed "HUMANITY C.A.N" billed to commence on World Health Day, April 7th, 2020. The Festival will run till April 17th, 2020 and everything will be done online.
The screenings will be hosted on a secure platform where ONLY registered participants will be required to log in with a password, and then enter their name(s) and email addresses to view the movies, sequel to registering for the festival here: https://www.realtimefilmfestival.com/rtf-online-film-festival.html
This will enable us track how each viewer is engaging with the content (In Real-time) and help us monitor the way viewers engage with the content on the platform. Movies shall also be watermarked with the festival logo for identification, and to discourage any sort of advanced piracy.
The remote nature of the Festival will not cause us to omit the exciting elements of our annual events hence, we shall still go ahead with the Masterclasses, Panel Discussions, Film Pitching Sessions and the Awards Ceremony – all remotely.
This event precedes the main festival in June, that is still billed to hold; sequel to the victory of humanity over the COVID-19 pandemic. All entries will still go through the necessary screening for eligibility because we must maintain our quality and artistic standards notwithstanding our novelties.
Judging by registrations so far, we shall have approximately 7,000 people participating in this year's festival. Our festival attendance average in our five years of existence has been 11,000 annually.
Remember, Stay HOME, Stay SAFE, but attend #RTF!
