"Black, Queer & Done" is an independent feature film that delves into the experiences and portrayal of Black LGBT+ individuals in the arts, culture, and media industries. Queer artists and cultural professionals from the UK, US, and Africa participated in online focus groups for interviews. From the insights obtained in these groups, three themes emerged. Eight Black, Queer artists were then invited to express these themes through their art: "My Queer Me," "In-Between-Ness," and "It's Giving Thanks." This film marks Director Nyasha Daley's first venture into feature filmmaking; it was written, filmed, edited, directed, produced, and premiered on a modest budget of £15,000, funded by the Arts Council England. |
