#RTF2017
Our vision is “to build a truly International and remotely accessible Film Festival”. Our corporate mission is phrased to require milestone triggered reviews. It is “to become the biggest and most acclaimed technology – driven, remotely accessible Festival in Africa within two years of our existence”.
'Our LANGUAGE is "FILM", our MEDIUM is "TECHNOLOGY" and we celebrate the "HUMAN TALENTS"
The Festival accepts entries from filmmakers across the world without discrimination. We also offer waivers for submission fees to filmmakers from countries like Iran, Pakistan and others who can't pay for submissions due to limitations caused by sanctions imposed on their countries.
We celebrate the FILMS and their MAKERS. We also celebrate and expose current TECHNOLOGIES that affect the art of film making. That's our focus hence, we do not seek to be the most glamorous Festival, but rather, our desire is to be known for being the Most Innovative, Eco friendly and Technology Attentive Festival in Africa that attracts the world!
During our inaugural edition, we had over 800 submissions from 80 countries out of which 60 films from 25 countries were screened. Our Festival Catalogue Theme for 2016 was "EMOTIONS" while our Festival Program Theme was” INNOVATIVE TECHNICAL CONVERSATIONS"
Submissions for the 2017 edition are being processed at the moment and our Festival Catalogue Theme for 2017 is "HUMANITY" while our Festival Program Theme is “EXTENSIVE PRODUCTION CONVERSATIONS”
We are an Independent, privately funded Film Festival which seeks to promote the Artistry in Filmmaking. Our special emphasis is on Artistic Films.

FESTIVAL NOVELTIES:
1. We have come up with an Eco-friendly and convenient way to activate a Festival in which Filmmakers can participate from across the world without being physically present – using Technology.
In 2016, over 40 Filmmakers participated in the Festival remotely from their various locations, and could partake of the Question and Answer Session via Skype.
We perfected the procedure during our one – day Social Media Week event which held in February of 2017. In this second edition, we shall be deploying the same process to host a Festival that is remotely accessible in every way.
2. Many Festivals have a category for films “Made for Children” but we are the first to introduce and celebrate the “Films made by Children” Category and this year, we have yet another array of thought – provoking movies shot by Kids!
3. Last year, we premiered a Feature Film (Behind the Wheels) at the African Shrine. We even had Red Carpet hosting right there; and it was free for all to attend and to watch. Before we did it, it had not been done before.
4. Last year, we also dedicated the Awards Night to Industry Veterans, who were decorated with Medals of Honour for their contributions to the Industry we now enjoy today.
5. We do not handle any physical medium for film submissions. All our submissions are done online; mostly on FilmFreeway.com
6. We’re the First African Festival with emphasis on Technology.
7. Our Festival is FOR FILMMAKERS, BY FILMMAKERS, and everybody in attendance feels equal. We do NOT segregate.
8. We are working with AFRINOLLY & ARCADIA TV to ensure that next year, movies can also be seen on Mobile Platforms during the duration of the Festival.
9. We have also introduced “HORROR NIGHT”. A showcase of several Horror Movies BY Nigerian Filmmakers. This is because Art-house Filmmakers who produce the Genre are often denied attention both at the Cinemas, and in many Film Festivals.
10. Finally, we are launching “CINEMA ON DEMAND” this year; whereby people can go to our website and request for the screening of any of the movies submitted by Filmmakers to the CINEMA ON DEMAND page. A film would require over 30 subscribers for it to be screened.
