RTF supports the second edition of the RADIANCE KIDS FEST!
RTF RETURNS TO LAGOS!
LESS than 20 days to its take off, the much-anticipated Realtime International Film Festival, RTF, has returned to its original base, Lagos for its 7th season, holding August 19-27.
The news was contained in a statement shared to the media and the film communities yesterday, August 1, by the CEO/Founder of the festival, Stanlee Ohikhuare.Though the specific venue(s) for the festival is yet to be named, Ohikhuare gave assurance that the dates and the rich and resourceful programming contents of the festival would remain as earlier advertised. He advised would-be participants – resource persons, guests and patrons – to set their eyes ad minds on experiencing the thrills of the festival in Lagos, where it had held all of its past six editions.
Stanlee Ohikhuare in his message to participants and guests, says:
“For reasons beyond our control, the 7th edition of the Realtime International Film Festival (RTF) will now take place in the cosmopolitan city of Lagos, Nigeria from August 19th–27th, 2022. The festival will no longer take place in partnership with the Edo State Government in Benin City as previously advertised, but all activities and sessions will still take place as previously scheduled.
“What this means is that everybody who is flying into Nigeria for the festival will now spend the week of the festival in Lagos State alone. All promises of accommodation and other provisions will still be upheld.“
The Realtime Film Festival 2022 is billed to parade a galaxy of front-runners and eminent workers in the Nigerian film circuit, who will be joined by guests from about 10 other countries, according to Ohikhuare, the self-taught 3D animator, Graphic Artist, Video Editor, Visual effects creator and Stunts Director, who is also directing the festival.
On the list of headliners have been named such renowned practitioners as Tunde Kelani, Segun Arinze, Ramsey Nouah, Ego Boyo, Bimbo Akintola, Bright ‘Basketmouth’ Okpocha and other A-listers in the Nigerian entertainment sector. In its programme outlines, the RTF will feature film screenings, workshops, seminars, speed-meetings among other events. It will also feature film entries submitted by producers from other countries.
Aside the headliners serving mostly as resource persons in the course of the festival, there is also the plan to use the edition to pay tribute to “labour of the heroes past”, by showcasing highpoints of the glorious moments in the chequered journeys of the Nigerian cinema. This will be done through the showcasing of some of the films that made huge and impactful impression in the 90s through the 2000s before the now famous ‘Nollywood’ came to formally acquire its name and current character, according to the hardworking festival founder, chief visioner and director of the festival, Stanlee Ohikhuare. “RTF was founded out of the need to have a festival where equity thrives. A festival that focuses squarely on filmmakers – a gathering where they can collaborate, learn & create hence, the slogan “For Filmmakers, by Filmmakers”. The festival is entirely executed collaboratively by practicing filmmakers and places emphasis on creating an environment where equity & creative diversity thrives.”
