RTF relies on partnership and collaboration to thrive. Over the years we have enjoyed support from various entities including Cinemas, Hotels, Restaurants, Event Centres, and TV/Radio Companies who have offered media partnerships to give us mileage and visibility. Our brand has been established through the support of these entities.
The responsibility of hosting each edition of the festival, however, rests on a team of relentless people who work voluntarily to curate unforgettable experiences. These experiences have shaped the perception of RTF through the years.
From those who came on board to activate our very first edition in 2016, to many others who have come on board in subsequent years, RTF owes its success to each and every team member who has volunteered their time and intellect to the building of this amazing festival that is curated by filmmakers, for filmmakers!

Enthusiasts across the country and the globe converged on Lagos, last week, to witness the maiden edition of Real-Time Film Festival, which showcased an array of films. The four-day event, held both on the mainland and in the island began on September 29 and was rounded off on October 3. Founded by and for independent filmmakers, the festival served as platform for independent filmmakers to express themselves and showcase their films. It also brought together cinema enthusiasts, filmmakers and artists f to discover Nigeria’s rich culture and tourism.
The vision of the festival, according to organizers, is to build a truly internationally accessible film festival in Africa. Apart from featuring free master classes by industry giants, discussion panels, short films and animations that showscase Africa’s diverse culture, the festival also served as an avenue to celebrate Nigeria’s veteran filmmakers with awards.

Students, aspiring filmmakers, enthusiasts and actors were presented with the opportunity to acquire skills in directing, cinematography, lighting design and acting from some of the industry’s best hands. The mentors included Teco Benson, Yinka Edward, Uzo Okpechi and Iretiola Doyle. Participants also had the chance to interact with directors and producers of films that were screened in a question and answer session after each screening.
The festival’s Artistic Director and multiple award winning filmmaker, Mr. Stanlee Ohikhuare, confirmed that 800 films were submitted for consideration for the festival from 60 different countries, but that 55 were shortlisted for screening.

The use of modern technology was hyped, as it enabled some filmmakers and resource persons who were not physically present during the master classes to interface with participants via Skype.

Checa este brutal cortometraje dirigido por un niño nigeriano de 12 años

¿Te acuerdas de lo que hacías cuando tenías 12 años? ¿No? Nada mal, ¿no?

REALTIME FILM FESTIVAL WINNER WINS AGAIN IN AUSTRALIA
Perth Modern student’s win is out of this world

Could a Perth teen take on an Academy Award winning director and beat him at his own game?
Perth Modern School student Radheya Jegatheva has done just that, winning the open category at the Port Shorts Film Festival in Queensland.

One of the leading film festivals in Australia, actor Stephen Curry, executive producer Matt Hearn and Australian Film Industry Awards nominated screenwriter Kier Shorey were on the judging panel.

Commenting on the winning film, Stephen Curry said it beggared belief that a 17-year-old could produce such a polished and high quality film.

In the end, Radheya’s production beat the film Pearl by 2015 Academy Award winning director Patrick Osborne from the Walt Disney Animation Studios in America.

Radheya’s film Journey is set in outer space and based on a story he wrote in 2014 about a pair of lost astronauts who try to find their way back to Earth.

Radheya wrote the screenplay, produced the animation, edited the footage, and composed and played the entire soundtrack for the film.

Busy studying for his Year 12 exams at Perth Modern School, he was unable to attend the award ceremony and was surprised when he received a telephone call from Stephen Curry on the night of the event.

“Stephen asked me if I could hear the announcements over the phone and told me to stay on the line while the winners were announced,” he said.

“It was absolutely incredible to hear the winners’ announcement live and then to hear them call out Journey as the overall winner – I could hardly speak, I didn't know what to say.

“I was so happy to be shortlisted as that meant my film would be shown at the festival in illustrious company. I didn't think for a second I would actually win."
The Movie also won in Africa's Eco and Technology friendly festival, the REALTIME INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL in October 2016.

KATHMANDU, Nov 8: Aditya Khadka, a fifteen year old filmmaker was awarded at the 33th Chicago International Children Film Festival on November 6 for his short film ‘Dhartiputra’.
The film portrays the miraculous survival of four-month old, Sonis Awal who was rescued after being buried under his house for 22 hours following the devastating earthquakes in April 2015. The film mainly focuses on the emotions of Rasmeela (Soni’s mother) during those 22 hours and her feeling after her son was rescued. Of 289 films in competition in the festival, ‘Dhartiputra’ bagged second prize in young filmmaker category.
CICFF is the biggest film festival for children and youth in North America.
